Union School District is seeking an interested independent specialized transportation contractor for the 2025-2026 school year. The contract requires the ability to operate a fleet of vehicles and provide qualified drivers to drive the assigned routes. Interested contractors must be organized and able to cooperate with Central Office Personnel, specifically the Superintendent and Transportation Director. The contract can viewed by clicking the attachment below. The following documents must be submitted to the Central Office before awarding the contract: list of drivers with a valid driver's license, insurance declaration, fleet list, and Federal Tax ID Number. Please submit a letter of interest to Mrs. Megan Hepler, Transportation Director, 354 Baker St., Ste 2, Rimersburg, PA  16248. The District will begin reviewing applications on March 20, 2025. Over the past week, we have noticed an increasing number of cases of head lice among students, particularly at the high school building. While lice are often common among groups of children such as in schools, we want to ensure that we all work together to address the situation promptly and effectively. While lice are not known to carry any diseases or present a serious health concern, they may present discomfort and may easily spread through close contact. We are asking you to please check your child’s hair regularly for signs of lice such as small white eggs. If you find evidence of head lice, we request that you do the following:



1. Treat your child with an appropriate lice treatment. Many over-the counter products are available, or your doctor may recommend treatment.

2. Remove nits from your child's hair. This is an important step in preventing re-infestation.

3. Treat any bedding, soft furniture, clothing, etc., which may also contain lice or nits/eggs.

4. Notify the school nurse if your child has lice, signs of lice, and/or has been treated for lice so we can monitor the situation.

5. Encourage your child to avoid head-to-head contact with others and not to share personal items such as hats, combs, or brushes.



We understand that this situation can be concerning, but please know that with early detection and prompt treatment, lice can be controlled. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued assistance in maintaining a healthy environment for all students. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. Dear Parents/Guardians,

Union School District is conducting a survey to determine the number of children eligible to enter kindergarten at Sligo Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year.

If you have a kindergarten age child, please complete the bottom portion of this letter. To enroll in kindergarten a child must be 5 years of age on or before July 2, 2025.

A Parent Orientation Meeting will be held in the cafeteria at Sligo Elementary School on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. for parents/guardians. Parents will have an opportunity to meet the principal, school nurse,  kindergarten teachers, special education director, and transportation director. Parents may also schedule an appointment for the screening process, which will occur on Thursday, April 24, 2025 and Friday, April 25, 2025.

Therefore, it is imperative that you dress in a manner that projects a positive image. Secondly, your dress must be chosen with safety in mind. Any clothing which may pose a safety hazard is not permitted.  Lastly, your form of dress/appearance should promote a positive learning environment and cannot cause a disruption to your education or the education of others.
